I can’t believe it’s August already! Time really flies when you’re having fun! 😀 What I love most about summer is that you meet up with friends more easily. The past two months I’ve met up with most of my good friends, and I saw a big part of my big family.
Gentse Feesten

If there’s one thing that stood out the past two months, it would be the Gentse Feesten. It’s a 10-day long street festival in the center of Ghent. It might have been the last time I could go while living in Ghent, so I went 6 of the 10 days. 😀

Best part about the festival is that there are so many different styles of music, activities, food, drinks, … I was waiting for a Brazilian dance workshop together with a friend I met while I was in Brazil, and we realized it was 10 full years since we left to live a year in Brazil. So we celebrated it over a typical coconut water. 😀

Fun near the water
Since the weather was this gooood I spent a lot of time on or near water as well. For example in a pool. Or well, chilling on a giant unicorn while dipping my feet in the pool. Works like a charm!

Ostend is my place to go if I want to go to the beach. It’s the perfect way to combine shopping and having a beach blowout. Score!

Another way to cool down during the June & July heat was to take our inflatable kayak and hit the water. It’s was super relaxing and super fun to see the city from a different angle.

Shop till you drop
I wasn’t finished shopping in Oostende, so I also went to Antwerp a few weeks later. I wasn’t too happy with the sales, or I’m just getting more difficult to buy clothes over the years. But I definitely had a lot of fun in this beautiful city! 😀

For the love of food
I really should start a separate “My Month in Pictures – Food edition”. Let’s start with me having sushi twice in two days’ time. Oops!

Another thing that might not surprise you: I went brunching. 😀 This time we tried Oats Day Long in Ghent, and OMG it’s the best brunch we’ve had so far! Definitely our new favorite place to brunch!

I really was in the mood for trying out new places the past two months. Another first was going to the Lebanese foodsharing restaurant Yalla Yalla. There were things I loved and things I didn’t like, but overall I can only recommend!

Last food of the month was from my dad’s 60th birthday. My family came over to my parent’s have a barbecue lunch, which was super fun! Afterwards my parent’s friend also came over and we had a loooot of coffee and cakes, followed by sandwiches.

I can really get happy just meeting up with my friends. The past two months the weather was great to do so, and I’m super happy I’ve seen most of my friends during these two months. It’s not easy to get all of my family together, so that definitely was great as well!
What is your favorite memory of the summer so far? 😀

Girl, it looks like you had a blast! The food looks amazing and the festival sounds like it would be so much fun, too! I love to spend as much time in or by the water in the summer, too. Especially since it seems like we have more colder weather months than warmer, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great month!

This festival sounds so fun. For me my most memorable summers are nights out dancing salsa with friends.

What a wonderful place, I wish we could enjoy such things in my city.
I celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday too in July, and his life is the most valuable thing right now to me.
Have a great August 😀
