Even though I love the colors of autumn and the snow of winter, I’m much more of a summer girl. Seriously, give me sunshine and I’m happy. Not a heat wave, just a decent 30 degrees Celius weather. So ever since last weekend, when the realization hit me that December had arrived, I started preparing for the winter cold. You always got to start with a good basis, so here are my winter wardrobe essentials.
Ankle boots
Let’s start with the basis: your feet. Ankle boots are great because they suit more people than over the knee boots. Besides that, you can really go wild with the print, or keep it a classy black. And, if you’re feeling like it, you can even add a funny, super warm sock that peeps out a bit!

Skinny jeans
Socks aren’t the only things you can pair with ankle boots; skinny jeans as well. What I love about them is that you can easily tuck them inside your boots. Besides that, it reduces the volume of wearing layer on layer on layer.
Statement coat
Winter season is of course coat season as well. I always find it so incredibly hard to find a warm coat, that looks good and that suits my body. Last year I found my ultimate statement coat, but of course I’m always on the lookout for a new one. Beating that one will be hard though.

A beanie
Winter clothes are all about warmth, so it’s essential to keep your head warm when you go out as well. You can never go wrong with a beanie; there’s one for everyone! I have a chunky knitted one with a big fluffy pompom on top of it. I absolutely love it! π
Blanket scarf
While we’re at the accessories: a blanket scarf definitely is one of the essentials! You can completely wrap yourself in it, both outside and inside, when the heating at the office is not that warm and you don’t want to overheat the other colleagues. Besides that, you can go absolutely crazy with the print, so when keeping all else quite basic the scarf gives that little something to your (outside) outfit.

Chunky knit sweater
Now off to the last part of my essentials list: the tops. A chunky knit sweater is definitely one of these. They’re super warm and perfect for layering. Pair them with the skinny jeans on top to make sure you don’t look like a potato bag in it. π

Turtleneck top
And last but not least: the turtleneck top. Not everyone may feel fully comfortable in them, but they are also perfect for layering because you can easily wear something above it. A chunky knit sweater, a vest or even that dungarees you wore all summer long, it will definitely keep you warm! π

I used to prefer the fall over summer, but now Iβm more of a summer girl. I think itβs because I do more fun activities with my little one, which makes it that much more exciting. I love that grey coat, it looks so good on you!
